Lifelong learners, we salute you! We know that pursuing higher education is no easy task, and it can be even more intimidating on a limited budget. However, you’re already a smart cookie for valuing education (high fives, BTW). Let’s work together to figure out the funding aspect with a few universal tips to shrink those school expenses:
For over a century, Big Brothers Big Sisters has been helping change kids’ perspectives and giving them the opportunity to reach their potential. By providing positive one-to-one relationships, at-risk children have someone to confide in and to look up to, and in turn, they do better in school and at home! Studies have shown that at a time in children’s lives when even small choices can change the course of their futures, BBBS also helps children avoid violence and substance abuse.
Welcome to 2018, Alaska! Credit Union 1 is gearing up for a big year ahead, and a big part of this plan is to share even more heart-warming, life-changing #CU1LUV across our state. You’ll see us volunteering in your local communities, raising funds in our branches, and asking you directly about the ways we can help improve your life.
Throughout the month of December, Credit Union 1 is celebrating the giving spirit with a fundraiser to help make the holidays extra special for Alaskans in need. On the heels of #GivingTuesday, during which CU1 gave over $19,000 to our communities via donations and acts of kindness, we’re inviting YOU to share in the giving spirit as well with a donation to the One for All Alaska Fund. All donations to this fund will go to the specific CU1 branch community of your choosing!
CU1 is happy to announce our fourth annual celebration of #GivingTuesday in Alaska! Today, our employees will be taking to the streets to give over $19,000 in donations and acts of kindness throughout our state.
The Food Bank of Alaska is a local organization that helps provide healthy meals for families in need throughout our state. Since 1979, they have been securing donated food for nonprofit agencies to distribute to hungry Alaskans. By donating to the Food Bank of Alaska, you’ll help positively impact the fight against hunger right here in our state!
In October, Credit Union 1 is raising funds for the Alaska AIDS Assistance Association (Four A’s) and their efforts to support and empower people living with or affected by HIV/AIDS. This association is also working toward the elimination of HIV infection and its stigma in all Alaskan communities. Four A’s currently provides services such as subsidized housing and medical care information, which allows ill Alaskans to pursue employment and vastly improve their circumstances!
Did you know that there are more than 100,000 children living in poverty in Alaska who own zero books? Together, we can change that statistic and improve the future for Alaskan youth!
Thanks for stopping by the CU1 Blog! We’re pretty enamored with Alaskans at Credit Union 1, which is why you’ll find us sharing loads of fun and informative info on our blog, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram and more. If you don’t already follow us on those venues, take a moment today and join the conversation! You can even send us questions and comments via social media, as another helpful way to keep in touch with CU1.
Help make miracles!
This June, Credit Union 1 is raising funds for sick and injured children throughout Alaska. Help us show support for the Children’s Hospital at Providence and their efforts to make miracles happen! This local facility offers a family-centered care model that provides the highest quality health service in a family-friendly environment to reduce stress and involve parents in every step of care.
